This is the definition of a cozy winter meal. My mom used to make this all the time. It’s so easy, but has so much flavor. The sweetness of the peas are the perfect compliment to the saltiness of the chicken broth and Pecorino Romano.
Shells with Peas

Ingredients
- 1 pound (16 oz) shell pasta
- 1 cup diced onions
- 1 can (6 oz) tomato paste
- 2 cups chicken broth
- 1 cup frozen peas
- Pepper to taste
- Pecorino Romano cheese for sprinkling
Instructions
- Sauté diced onions until golden and add pepper to taste.
- Add tomato paste, and let caramelize a couple minutes.
- Add chicken broth, and frozen peas.
- Bring to a boil and add the shells. Cook until al dente.
- Finish with a generous sprinkle of Pecorino Romano before serving.
